Cauldron & Hive Goddess Mug

48.00

in the clay cave,  i hand build these seemingly ancient goddess mugs, one by one, earth, air, fire, water and Spirit colluding to manifest a beloved vessel. i begin by wedging the telluric clay before introducing it to the slab roller. once it's rolled out smooth to the desired thickness, i use my template/pattern to cut the flattened clay down to size. for these goldstone clay goddesses i've pushed and caressed their bellies, butts and boobs out and rubbed in a diaphanous film of dark glaze to catch the curves of age and pleasure, deepening their imagined maiden, mother, crone history.  with all my heart i've wanted these to look like unearthed artifacts, treasure from another era, long lost witchy loot buried in a bog or hauled up from a salty sea ship wreck.

this lot is a neutral goldstone with just the slightest sheen of glaze on the outside while still looking mostly matte like i prefer. the interior, rim and handle glaze are perfectly reduced to the most purposely imperfect thick and thin patina, consistency and coverage in white.  as they are hand built, they are all similar but not exact duplicates, noted most especially in the shapes and sizes of the mug handles, and bodily features.  when you order from this lot, you will receive the one i intuit to be most meant for you.
